On May 22nd this year, Metro Rail worker Mukesh entered into the African lions enclosure at the Nehru Zoological Park under the influence of alcohol. He even dared to shake hands with two lions inside the enclosure.
Soon after spotting him swim towards the wild creatures, Caretaker Papaiah climbed on the parapet and began shouting at the lions to stay away from Mukesh. In the meantime, Other staffers reached the spot and rescued the drunk man. Soon, He was arrested by Bahadurpura Police under provisions of Wildlife Act and tresspassing.
The Special Magistrate Court sentenced Mukesh to four months and four days in prison for his appropriate behaviour. Even a fine of Rs 100 was imposed on him.
Mukesh walked free after the verdict was pronounced as he remained in remand since his arrest in May.
