Poachers killed Rhino during British Royals' visit

In a shocking incident poachers killed yet another one-horned rhino in Assam's Kaziranga National Park. The incident took place when British royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton were spending the night at a nearby resort. Offcial's  recovered the skeleton of a rhino from the Burhapahar range of the park on Thursday morning. The poachers took away the horn. There were about five poachers who trespassed into the zoo and killed the rhino with AK 47.

Just hours before the killing, the royal couple came within 50 metres of a rare one-horned rhino and fed a baby rhinoceros. On Wednesday morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had visited the Bagori range of the park and interacted with forest guards on anti-poaching measures.

Poachers pumped 80 bullets into the mammal after security guards were allegedly diverted for Prince William and Kate Middleton's visit.The one-horned rhino is one of the rarest mammals in the world. It is always  vulnerable to poaching due to the high prices - at least Rs 50 lakh -- fetched by its horn in black markets. The Rhino's horn is a coveted item in Chinese medicine that sells for millions - when the animal was alive. Kaziranga National Park, of Assam account almost 95% of the total wild One horned rhino in the world. This was the seventh rhino killed in the national park this year. some Vietnamese buyers believe horn to be a cure for cancer when ground to a fine powder.
