The Amit Shah public meeting in Vizag on Sunday was a successful affair. The BJP managed to get sufficient crowds to the meeting. The venue appeared to be full and Amit Shah's speech too was refreshingly different. Contrary to the general perception, his speech sharply targeted the ruling YSRCP and called upon the people to overthrow it.
But, all these positives were eclipsed by poor translation of Amit Shah's speech. BJP's Rajya Sabha member and Tadepalligudem native GVL Narasimha Rao was entrusted with the responsibility of translating Amit Shah's speech. Many times, his translation went contrary to what Amit Shah said. He was also seen fumbling for words on several occasions.
At one stage, even Amit Shah realised that GVL was wrongly translating his speech. He interrupted GVL and asked him about it. A flabbergasted GVL had to admit that he did not hear Shah's speech properly. After this incident, he began taking notes of Amit Shah's speech. But, even that did not remedy the situation either.
Usually, the BJP is seen as being pally with the YSRCP. However, this time around, the party has targeted the failings of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government. It was critical of the state government and said that the tte was frittering away the funds given by the state government. The TDP rank and file watched the public meeting with lot of interest.
