Ramagundam is the town that illuminates the whole state. Power generated from this town is supplied to different parts of Telangana. But, on Tuesday, parts of the town were plunged into darkness due to power outages.
Well! Power outages are normal, one would say. Normally yes. But, the power has gone while the meeting of the Ramagundam municipality was on. The budget was being presented. And what more? The mayor was announcing the setting up of a 2700 mega watt power generation plant. Interestingly, the announcement of the power centre was made in pitch darkness. The mayor was reading from the papers using the mobile phone's torch light. While he was reeling out figures, the members were verifying from the copies of the budget provided to them using the light from the mobile phones.
Interestingly, when the power was gone, the generators in the municipal office too went kaput. So, the whole meeting was held in pitch darkness. Interestingly, when a corporator had to raise some issue, he had to tell the mayor his name and his division number for easy identification. The officials are now said to have decided to undertake repairs to the generator.
