The D-Day had arrived finally and the much-awaited Assembly elections in Karnataka started earlier today. There are more than five crore voters in the state and thousands of polling booths were set up for the polling. From common people to celebrities, everyone flocked to the booths to cast their votes.
A few celebrities campaigned for the candidates. Kannada celebrities like Kiccha Sudeep and Telugu celebrities like Brahmanandam campaigned for the candidates. It is expected that the vote percentage this time would surpass the previous one and see a higher vote percentage.
Like several other celebs, Actor-politician Prakash Raj also cast his vote at the booth. He has a big message for the voters of Karnataka. He said that voters should vote accordingly to see that they vote against the communal politics in the state.
Speaking to the media, Prakash Raj said that everyone should vote against communal politics and this is the right of everyone. Urging voters to remember what they have gone through, Prakash Raj said that the aim is to have a beautiful Karnataka. "We've to vote against communal politics. This is a place where you have the right to decide. Because in elections, in politics, it is the ruling party that is accountable. You know when, what you have to do, what you have suffered and what you have done. We need Karnataka to be beautiful," Prakash Raj reportedly said.
Though Prakash Raj did not take any names, everyone knows that he is asking voters to not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is known for his anti-BJP stand. He never misses an opportunity to target the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So he doesn't like BJP to come to power again in the state.
A few communal issues reported in Karnataka in the past few years. The hijab issue is one such thing. The protests triggered by it also spread to various states and cities. Recently, the Nandini-Amul issue also happened. The opposition parties and leaders alleged that the Karnataka government wants to benefit the Gujarat company Amul which would impact the local brand Nandini which is the pride of the state.
