Ace pollster and master strategist Prashant Kishore planning to join the Congress Party and bring about a makeover for the party? Sources say Yes. If sources are to be believed, he has already met Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to discuss the modalities of his joining the party.
Ahead of the five-state election, Prashant Kishore tried to join the Congress Party and become its general secretary. But, things didn't work out the way he wanted and he said he was not joining the Congress Party at all. But, now, he wants to breathe life into the moribund Congress and rejuvenate it. He wants to turn it into a fighting fit organisation.
At the same time, he wants to bring all the anti-BJP parties on one platform. His relations with several regional leaders are sure to come handy for him. He also wants the Congress Party to become stronger in states like Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Haryana and Jharkhand.
PK feels that BJP is winning 90 per cent of its seats from these states, where it is pitted directly against the Congress in a one-to-one fight. So, he wants to bring total changes in the Congress Party in terms of work culture, fund raising, ticket distribution, media management and social media strategies. For that, he wants to be a functionary of the party, sources say. But, whether the Congress establishment wants to listen to him or not is a big question.
Sources say that even Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are seized of the issue. They are said to be holding discussions with various stakeholders in the party. Sonia Gandhi is also said to have discussed the issue with the G23 leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad. If all goes well, PK is likely to join the Congress Party sooner than later.
