President's Killer Was Hiding In Kolkata For 23 Years?

Update: 2020-04-08 08:12 GMT
Strange as it may sound, but the killer of the father of Bangladeshi has hid for 23 long years in Kolkata and the police and the immigration officials had no clue whatsoever. The killer, identified as Abdul Majed, has been arrested on Tuesday (April 7) in Dhaka. Majed disappeared in 1998 after Mujib's daughter Haseen Wajed came to power. He said he had been hiding in India all these years. How he managed to avoid being detected all these years is a million dollar question.

After killing Mujib, he retired from the Army and was appointed in the Bangladeshi embassy in Senegal. Later, he worked as Inland Water Transport Commission and then as director of youth affairs. Till Haseena Wajed came to power, he was protected by the Khalida Zia family.  He vanished once Haseena came to power. The Bangladesh government had been looking for him all these years. Sources said though he entered Bangladesh on March 15 this year, he remained undetected for almost three weeks.

Five persons have already been hanged in connection with Mujib's murder. One person died a natural death. A handful of other assassins are at large. Some five more are yet to be caught.  Majed  has since been sent to jail.
