Sandalwood producer Shashi Kumar attempted suicide on Thursday at his residence in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru. After finding him in an unconscious condition in a parked car near a bus stand, He was rushed to the nearby private hospital by family members and doctors have been treating him.
Reportedly, Shashi Kumar made a low-budget movie 'Half Mental' which costed him to the tune of Rs 3.25 crore. He, however, failed to release the movie from the past one-and-a-half year due to various reasons like content, disinterest among Distributors and non-availability of cinema halls. He was asked to adjust Rs 80 lakhs more to release the film.
Police suspects financial issues could be the reason behind the extreme step taken by Shashi Kumar.
