A big question mark now hands on the fate of Telangana Congress working president and Malkajgiri MP Revanth Reddy. The Congress has managed just three seats in Kodangal municipality. There were 12 seats in all of which the TDP has won seven and the Congress could win just three seats.
Revanth Reddy took this up as an issue of prestige. He stayed put in Kodangal and vigorously campaigned for the party. He met the voters personally and appealed to them to vote for the Congress. Despite this, the Congress had lost badly. The party had lost the ward where Revanth's house was located. It was clear that the TRS focused all its energies on Kodangal and ensured that Revanth Reddy's candidates lose the election.
Worse still, there would be clamour within the Congress Party against Revanth Reddy. Already several leaders like Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komati Reddy and VHanumanth Rao have been strongly opposing Revanth Reddy. They have also vehemently trashed the proposal from the high command to make him the next PCC chief. Now, they will use the dismal performance of the Congress party to oppose his claims to the PCC chief throne.
