Ready To Sleep On The Road: Chief Minister

Update: 2019-06-22 12:28 GMT
In an attempt to shed the '5-Star Image', Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy tried to present himself differently during the Grama Vastavya (Village Stay) Programme. This exercise could have been planned to gain the acceptance of the people after 2019 Lok Sabha Polls debacle.

Kumaraswamy didn't take up Grama Vastavya in the first year of his current tenure as CM. This was a programme which helped him establish himself as a Leader when he became CM for the first time in 2006. It was only after the results went in favour of BJP in the recent Lok Sabha Polls, Chief Minister felt the need to re-build his image and that of the JD (S).

After 'Gram Vastavya 2.0' was kickstarted, There were speculations of Karnataka CM receiving '5-star treatment' in a village as a bathroom in a lodge was renovated for his convenience. In reply, Kumaraswamy shot back, 'What 5-star arrangements? Ready to sleep on the road. Want to ask the Opposition if I cannot have this basic facility, how will I work every day? A small bathroom was built. I will not be taking it back with me. Slept in a hut and 5-star hotel as well. When My Father was PM, I slept in Grand Kremlin Palace, Russia. I have seen everything in life'.
