Barely a day after the much-hyped launch of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay's yatra, is there already a re-think in the Telangana BJP about the whole programme? Questions have begun to be asked about whether the yatra will lead the BJP to power in Telangana? The party think-tanks argue that except for Hyderabad, parts of Warangal and Karimnagar, the party is not a force to reckon with in the state. So, yatra may not really benefit the party, sources say.
Even Union Minister Kishan Reddy has said that the party has to strengthen itself at the grassroots level in the state and increase its cadre. Given this, what is the use of such massive yatras, ask the party insiders. Many are asking as to what is the aim of the yatra. Can the BJP come to power with such yatras. More importantly, the party is suffering from group fighting and there is no synergy between the leaders. Several senior party leaders are now ranged against Bandi Sanjay.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay is making a clear effort to highlight that he would work for the Hindu Dharma. He wants to project himself as a Hindutva icon. He is also trying to expose the minority appeasement in Telagnana, especially by the ruling TRS. However, the question is will the Hindutva plank work in Telangana,
The only positive factor in the whole episode is that this is the first time that a BJP state president has undertaken such a yatra. The yatra will go on for 40 days in the first phase and at least 500 selected workers will travel along with Bandi Sanjay in his yatra.
