Sandalwood smugglers arrested in KBR Park

Smuggling of Sandalwood used to happen in forests.But now it crawled to parks in the cities where thousands of people visit daily to exercise or jog around.Hyderabad Police yesterday busted a racket of sandalwood smuggling with the arrest of eight members of an inter-state gang.

Forest officials on Thursday arrested smugglers who tried to cut a sandalwood tree inside KBR Park in Jubliee hills. There were around 200 sandalwood trees inside KBR Park and the smugglers managed to enter inside the park.

The smugglers tried to cut off some sandal wood trees in KBR park and one of the police man identified them and alerted cops.One of the smugglers put up a fight by pelting stones and broken glasses on the cops who came to nab them.However police managed to caught five smugglers.

Officials said that though security was tightened the smugglers got inside the park secretly.Security was tightened after forest officials found markings on trees made by unknown people
