SC Postpones Three Capitals Plea To December!

Update: 2023-07-11 16:52 GMT
It is known that the divided Andhra Pradesh has no standard capital yet. The previous government proposed Amaravati as the capital city and polled thousands of acres for this. However, the issue took a big turn with YCP coming into power and proposing the idea to have three capitals for the state for decentralization of development.

The ruling YSRCP is very adamant to have three capitals for the state. However, the government faced a big blow as the Supreme Court said it is recognising the petition filed by the government as a lead matter. However, the next hearing was postponed to December this year.

Hearing a petition, the bench of the Supreme Court gave orders to send notices to the defendants in the case. Though the bench said that the petition is a lead matter, it said it cannot hear the petition now as there are already many cases that are pending, and hence this cannot happen.

During the arguments, the bench was requested to hear the case soon. However, the bench said that the case cannot be heard at the earliest as there are cases of Constitutional benches from August to November.

As the Supreme Court bench heard the petition today, many felt that we might get clarity on this. However, the Supreme Court bench said that the petition cannot be heard at the earliest and postponed the matter to December.

On the other hand, the farmers in the Amaravati region have been fighting against the three capitals' ideas and earlier conducted the padayatra. They are fighting hard for this. However, the government is very strong on the stand.
