Man behind Telugu Talli & NTR Statue is no more

Renowned sculptor Devu Sankar, who made the Telugu Talli statue installed at Tank Bund in Hyderabad when NT Rama Rao was the chief minister of United AP, passed away in Tenali on Friday. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Even his sons Nayacharya and Nagamaiah Narayanacharya choose the path of their father.

The 72-Year-Old caught the attention of Telugus across the World after NTR roped him to make Telugu Talli Statue. When the statue broke into two, He was the one who repaired it. The statue of NTR installed in Parliament premises has been sculpted by Devu Sankar alone.

Devu Sankar hails from Srikakulam district. He shifted his base to Hyderabad in search of job and settled down as a sculptor.    

Statues of Yellapragada Subba Rao in NIMS, Annamacharya, Bhakta Ramadasu are some of the best works of Devu Sankar.
