Congress Decides To Be Flexible, To Give 29 Seats To Allies

Update: 2018-10-24 10:03 GMT
Finally, at long last, the Congress Party appears to have realized that any further delay in finalizing the seat adjustment could prove counter productive and give a handle to the TRS to attack it. Sources watching the developments in the Congress have revealed that it is important to arrive at seat-sharing agreement quite quickly. It has decided to be flexible and not insist on a minimum of 100 seats for itself. It has decided to give more seats to the friendly parties.

The Congress has decided not to allow the TRS and the BJP to split the Praja Kutami and has decided to take only 90 seats. It will now leave 29 seats to the friendly parties. Of these, the TDP will be given 15 seats, the Telangana Jana Samithi of Prof. Kodandaram will be given 10 seats and four seats to the CPI. The TDP has been the most accommodative of the friendly parties. It said it is important to defeat the BJP and MOdi and seat-related issues should be dealt with in a flexible manner.  Even Chandrababu has indicated to his leaders in Telangana that they should be very accommodative.

As for the TJS, except one or two candidates, the others are unknown commodities. So giving more seats to it could be a wasteful exercise. But, Kodandaram’s personal charisma could be a clincher for the Congress. Sources say that the list would be out by the end of this month.
