Which is the most favourite destination of any politician these days? Without doubt, the BJP. Leaders from all parties, including the Congress, are flocking to the BJP. But, here is one politician, who is all set to leave the BJP. He is going to join the Congress Party.
Raju Kage a senior BJP leader, who has contested and lost from Kagawada assembly constituency in Karnataka, is all set to leave the BJP on Tuesday. He will join the Congress party on Wednesday. Raju Kage is resigning in protest against the BJP's decision to give the party ticket to the Congress MLA Shrimanth Patil, who defected to the BJP and is seeking re-election.
Interestingly, Patil, who defeated Raju Kage in the 2018 elections, has later joined the BJP and resigned to seek reelection. Rahu Kage objected to this and the BJP leadership, including CM Yeddiyurappa, offered to give him the post of the chairperson of any prestigious corporation in the state in lieu of the MLA ticket. They also assured that this will be of the cabinet rank . However, Raju Kage refused to take the bait and said that he cannot campaign for someone who had defeated him.
He met senior Congress leader DK Sivakumara and former CM Siddaramaiah and expressed his wish to join the Congress Party. He is likely to join the Congress on Wednesday. The resignation of 17 Congress MLAs has necessitated bypolls in these constituencies. The Congress MLAs are now being given tickets by the BJP. Due to this, the losing candidates of the BJP are facing uncertain future. They are now forced to work with the same people against who they had to fight the electoral battle. This is causing disquiet among them.
