This 10-Time Lok Sabha MP Is No More!

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee passed away on Monday morning at the age of 89. He suffered a massive heart attack at 8.10 am.

On last Tuesday, Somnath suffered a cardiac arrest. A Team of Doctors at Belle Veu Clinic in Kolkata has been monitoring his condition since then but he can't be saved.

Somnath Chatterjee, a 10-time Lok Sabha MP, bagged Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 1996. He joined CPM in 1968 and served as it's central committee member. In 2008, Somnath was expelled by CPM for refusing to tender his resignation even after the left parties withdrawn support to UPA-I.

On July 25th in 1929, Somnath Chatterjee was born in Tezpur, Assam. He pursued education in Mithra Institute School and completed higher education in Kolkata University. He was a law practitioner before making foray into politics.

President Ramnath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi mourned the death of Somnath Chatterjee. They lauded his effort for the well-being of the poor and vulnerable.
