AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing him to pass the Women's Reservation Bill.
Apparently, Women's Reservation Bill was cleared by the Rajya Sabha in 2010 itself when UPA was in power. Since then, The Bill wasn't passed in Lok Sabha even though BJP have an absolute majority since 2014.
In Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, The Percentage of Women is only 10 percent which is half of the global average of 21.4 percent. Female Politicians allege Male MPs fear they will lose their posts and hence they are against the Women's Reservation Bill.
In her letter, Sonia Gandhi requested Modi to take advantage of BJP & its allies majority in Lok Sabha to pass the Women's Reservation Bill. She assured Congress Party will always be supporting this bill for Women Empowerment.
