Self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been lodged in Rohtak Prison in Haryana after the CBI Court pronounced him guilty of raping two Sadhvis.
Ram Rahim reached Panchkula for the court hearing from Sirsa, headquarters of Dera Sacha Sauda sect, in a 200 cars convoy. While the Godman travelled in a bullet-proof car, his followers accompanied him in rest of the vehicles. He was shifted to Rohtak in a helicopter after his conviction. Upon reaching Rohtak, Ram Rahim was taken to the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak.
Violence erupted in four states (Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan) as thousands of followers of Ram Rahim resorted to vandalism after the verdict was delivered. At least 31 people were killed and 250 others suffered injuries.
As per reports in National Media, The Controversial Godman was provided a Special Cell, Assistant and Bottled Water in the prison.
