Sushma Swaraj's Choice: Not Amaravati But Mumbai?

Update: 2019-06-12 06:16 GMT
Despite now-withdrawn tweet of Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, was there a real attempt to send former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj as Andhra Pradesh Governor? Sources in the know say that there indeed was an attempt. She was indeed considered for the post. But, Sushma Swaraj, who is ailing with serious kidney related issues, apparently did not like to work in Amaravati as there are no high quality hospitals in the capital area and she may have to be flown to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. So, she rejected the idea of going to Amaravati, where Chandrababu’s big boasts and tall claims, there are no high speciality medicare institutions.

Instead, she reportedly suggested that she be posted as Maharashtra Governor, where there are world-class medical facilities. Emergency medicare would be just a phone call away. This is now being confirmed by a Central Minister from Maharashtra.

Sushma Swaraj did not contest the elections nor did she join the campaign this time due to her health condition. She has addressed just two worker-level meetings in air-conditioned halls. She did not go to any state for campaigning for the party.
