The grand old Congress party had ruled the combined Andhra Pradesh on multiple occasions. However, the party had lost the grip of the divided Telangana state. Despite bifurcating the state, Congress could not encash that and lost the elections in the 2014 elections, the first after the state was divided.
With the party not able to give a tough competition to the TRS, the Delhi leadership of the party had focused on change in the leadership, and firebrand leader Revanth Reddy was made the Chief of the Telangana wing of Congress.
Doing justice to his role, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee(TPCC) President Revanth Reddy is aggressively going ahead to bring back the lost glory of the Congress party.
Under Revanth Reddy's leadership, party membership drives were held across the state and the idea turned out to be successful. Addressing the gathering at a recent drive, Telangana Congress chief Revanth had urged the leaders and cadre to work hard. He also announced that the hard-working leaders would be given promotions.
As another big step, Revanth Reddy had planned for a massive Padayatra in the state so that he can get support from the public and take the Congress party towards victory. However, it is said that a few leaders are not happy with this.
A few senior leaders in Telangana Congress who have been not happy with Revanth Reddy being made the TPCC chief are reportedly opposing the idea and suggesting that instead of Revanth Reddy, all the Congress leaders should take part in this.
Amid the alleged internal issues and a few Congress leaders opposing Revanth Reddy raising their objections to the proposed Padayatra, senior Congress leader and Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had launched a Padayatra. The Padyatra would last for more than one month and the MLA would cover more than 500 kilometers.
Padayatra is a successful idea for the politicians in combined Andhra Pradesh and even after the state bifurcation too. The likes of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made it to the Chief Minister post with padayatra.
