Reports that the BJP could enter into some kind of understanding with the Telugu Desam Party in both the Telugu states have sent the BJP cadres into a tizzy. A vast majority of the party workers, activists, supporters and sympathisers have taken to social media to oppose the proposal. They feel that the TDP would once again take the BJP for a ride and that it would politically sink the BJP.
The rumours began doing rounds ever since Modi and Chandrasekhar spoke briefly at the Azadika Amrit Mahotsav meet in Delhi. A section of the media began circulating stories of both the parties coming together. Though AP BJP affairs incharge Sunil Deodhar and Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao refuted these claims, the rumours continue to persist.
Former AP chief secretary and BJP leader IYR Krishna Rao too has said that the TDP is all but dead in Telangana and that there is no use in having an alliance with the TDP in Telangana. He also said that the stories of a possible alliance with the TDP were a figment of imagination and that they were driven with an ulterior motive.
Krishna Rao has been a staunch critic of Chandrababu Naidu. He has taken on Chandrababu's claims on Amaravati and other issues several times. IYR, who is now in the BJP, said that there was no question of a BJP-TDP alliance. He said that those who were spreading rumours could take rest as an alliance between the two parties was impossible.
