Telangana - an island of no lockdown

Update: 2021-05-10 03:12 GMT
The Telangana state is perhaps the only state in the country that does not have any kind of lockdown in place to fight Corona. Most of the states in the country have already gone under lockdown and several more have invoked partial lockdown measures.

Delhi has been under lockdown since April 19. Similarly, Maharashtra is under lockdown till May 15.  Several other states have followed suit. States like neighbouring Andhra Pradesh too have brought in partial lockdown. Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir too have opted for partial lockdown. Only Telangana remains as the sole example of a state that has not declared a lockdown.  Chief Minister KCR has categorically said that there was no question of imposing a lockdown in Telangana. He also argued that the second wave could subside by May 15.

KCR has said that he cannot afford to lose the migrant labourers due to lockdown and recalled the havoc the lockdown had wrought last time. Meanwhile, India is reporting 4.15 lakh vases everyday with a case load of 21.8 million. On an average, over 4000 deaths are being reported on a daily basis.
