Telangana High Court Says No To Christmas, New Year Celebration!

A plea pertaining to the Coronavirus situations had reached the Telangana High Court today. On this occasion, the High Court made a key decision and directed the state government to implement the orders that were issued by the court. Keeping the Omicron scare in mind, the High Court issued the key orders.

The Telangana High Court had directed the government to implement restrictions for the New Year and Christmas celebrations and asked the government to issue orders in this regard in two to three days. The Court cited the example of Delhi and Maharashtra.

Mentioning how the restrictions were imposed in Delhi and Maharashtra to curb the infections, the High Court directed the government to go for the restrictions. Besides this, the government was also directed to make sure that no gatherings take place in the state.

Having said that, the Court also highlighted the importance of testing people coming from other states and guided the state government to focus on this area.

Mentioning how the air passengers are being tested to detect the virus, the Telangana High Court said that on the same lines, people entering Telangana from other states through other means should also be tested.

The High Court orders came at the time when the Omicron variant is inculcating fear in the minds of people with the rise in the fresh cases. As of now, the Omicron cases in the state rose to 38 after as many as 14 fresh infections were detected in the state, media reports said.

On the other hand, a lockdown was reportedly announced in a gudem in the state amid Omicron fear. After a person in Gudem was tested positive for the new variant, the authorities are said to have imposed the lockdown to see that the virus is not spread further.

Earlier the states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, and national capital Delhi have announced restrictions to restrict and ban the celebrations on some of the biggest festivals in the country Christmas and New Year. Keeping the situation in mind, the restrictions were imposed and Telangana joined the list of the states to impose the restrictions.
