Move to popularise BRS?: Telangana to give ads worth Rs 300 crore in national papers

Update: 2022-10-19 07:53 GMT
The ruling TRS government may be cash-strapped when it comes to payment of salaries and provision of amenities to the people. But, it is flush with money if it means advertising the achievements of the KCR government. If sources serve us right, the TRS government is planning to spend up to Rs 300 crore for advertisements in the national and even international media.

According to sources, KCR, who is currently in Delhi, has summoned chief secretary Somesh Kumar and information and public relations commissioner Aravind Kumar to Delh to discuss the modalities of releasing advertisements in the national and international press. KCR, who is now planning to foray into national politics by renaming his party TRS as BRS, wants to gain nation-wide traction through these ads.

The government is planning to publicise the green winner award conferred on Hyderabad city by the International Horticulture Producers Association. The state has also bagged another award in some other section. KCR wants to highlight this achievement by giving ads in the national media. These ads will not just publicise the state government's achievements but also help create an interface with the national and international media.

Sources say that Rs 300 crore would be spent on the advertisement. The officials have been asked to release the amount without any delay. If sources are to be believed, advertisements would also be inserted in international newspapers such as Wallstreet Journal, Washington Times, International Harold Tribune, New York Times and the BBC.
