Tension gripped AP-Telangana border over ambulance row

Update: 2021-05-14 10:10 GMT
A tense situation prevailed at the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border as Telangana borders are not allowing the ambulances carrying Covid patients to enter TS without proper admit cards from local Covid hospitals.

With the cops strictly following the procedure, ambulances were denied permission to enter Telangana. With the ambulances denied permission, two Covid patients reportedly died at the border.

Tension gripped the Pulluru area near Kurnool after the family members of Covid-19 patients had a war of words with cops after they stopped the ambulances carrying Covid patients.

As per the media reports, around 500 ambulances from neighboring states have reached the state on Thursday alone. Nearly 50 Covid-19 patients who reached Hyderabad in ambulances passed away reportedly.

This development has allegedly resulted in a shortage of hospital beds. As a result, the ambulances were denied permission without admit pass and authorized letters from hospitals in Hyderabad.

On the other hand, patients and family members of Covid-19 patients are alleging that they were denied permission to enter Telangana despite providing all the required permissions.

Telangana officials were quoted as saying by media outlets: There is a shortage of hospital beds in Hyderabad with the rise of Covid cases and patients from neighboring states. To see that no issues pertaining to this issue, a Government Order(G.O) has been issued by the government.

Leaders like Revanth Reddy, Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh, and Andhra Pradesh unit general secretary S Vishnuvardhan Reddy found fault with the restrictions at the border and urged the Chief Ministers to find a solution to this as soon as possible.
