What happens if a joker takes over a country, becomes its head of the state? Well! You are wrong if you are thinking of Volodimir Zelensky, the Ukranian president. We are talking of Bhagwant Singh Mann, full time comedy star, who is now all set to become the chief minister of Punjab. Mann, who is now Sangrur MP, will soon resign this post as he is taking over as the chief minister of Punjab.

Mann, who began as a comedy actor from his school days and won several awards, including gold medals for her performances, has made comedy his profession. His comedy skits on politics, trade, commerce, sports and even economy have won him many friends. He performed in several countries, including Canada.

In 2011, he entered politics and lost from the Lehra assembly constituency in 2012 elections.  Later, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. He contested and won as MP from Sangrur in 2014. Later, he contested against Sukhbir Singh Badal and lost from Jalalabad constituency in 2017.  He had again won from Sangrur in 2019 and became an MP.  Interestingly, it is his first victory to the assembly.

Bhagwant Mann has drinking issues and has even come to the Lok Sabha in a drunken state. His drinking issues have actually become a problem for him to be announced as the chief ministerial candidate. However, AAP projected him as its CM candidate after heated debates. It remains to be seen how he performs as the CM of a troubled state like Punjab.
