An orphan⦠that is what the Congress Party is in Telangana. The party is completely rudderless and leaderless. The recent Graduate Constituency MLC elections were a great opportunity to revive itself. But, no leader worth his salt has campaigned for the party effectively.
Except Revanth Reddy and Uttam Reddy, no leader of any importance has joined the campaign for the party in the two Graduate MLC elections. To add to the woes, party affairs incharge for Telangana, Manickam Tagore did not visit Telangana even once during the graduate elections and there is literally no direction from him. So, the party candidates were left to fend for themselves.
Several leaders Starting from Vijayasanthi have left the party and joined the BJP. Leaders like Guduri Narayana Reddy, former union minister Surve Satyanayrana, Kuna Srisailam Goud, former MLA Maheshwar Reddy, Palwai Harish and Ramesh Rathod are making their way towards the BJP. Another senior leader Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has been indicating for quite some time that he would not remain in the Congress Party. The latest leader to leave the party is Konda Visweswar Reddy. Though all these leaders are leaving the party, the high command is doing literally nothing to salvage the situation.
If the same trend continues, more leaders might leave the Congress soon. As of now, the party is like an orphan. In the last one year, no national leader has visited the state. The only leader who visited the state was Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore. Even he is absent in the recent elections to the MLC seats.
