To attend or not to attend the Assembly: TDP to decide today

Update: 2022-03-03 05:02 GMT
The Opposition TDP is in a fix on the issue of whether to attend the budget session of the AP legislative assembly or boycott it. The party leadership is in two minds on the issue.  Meanwhile, a notification convening the budget session was issued by Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on Wednesday.

While one section feels that there is no point in attending the assembly as the party chief ahs already boycotted the assembly and vowed to return only as the CM.  The other section feels that the party should use the forum that the assembly provides to voice the people's concerns. This group feels that the YSRCP would be able to push through its agenda without any alternative opinion if the TDP boycotts the assembly.

The TDP politburo will meet on Thursday to take a call on this issue. The politburo will decide on whether to attend the budget session or not. Based on the decision taken at the politburo meeting, the TDP will take a decision.

Meanwhile, the Governor will address the joint session of the AP assembly on March 7. The assembly will offer condolences to the departed MLA Yellasiri and minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy. The Budget will be presented on March 11. The Government is proposing to hold the assembly for ten to 15 days.
