Tragedy Hits Awards Ceremony,11 People Passed Away!

An award is a parameter to show the contributions or achievements of a person. The award carries much significance if it is awarded by the state government. Usually, we see attendance in big numbers for the ceremonies. However, one such ceremony turned disaster as a few people passed away after attending the ceremony.

Going into detail, Maharashtra Bhushan Award is the highest civilian award given by the state government every year to people who make valuable contributions in various fields. A ceremony was held in Navi Mumbai to honor the winners of the awards. But tragedy hit the ceremony.

As it is summer and the temperature is high, few people could not take it. Not less than 11 people passed away due to heatstroke. The award function was held in open ground and people gathered in big numbers. It is said that many people were exhausted and uncomfortable due to the large crowds.

Many people who attended the event complained of uneasiness and were rushed to the hospital. People passing away after attending the event became a big sensation in the state. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his shock over the incident. He directed the officials to take all the measures to help the victims.

The media reports say that more than 100 people who attended the event fell ill and were taken to hospital. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that what happened at the event was unfortunate and announced Rs 5,00,000 as compensation to the families who lost their loved ones.

The award ceremony was held in the Khargar region of Navi Mumbai on Sunday. People who attended the award ceremony had to stand for long hours in the hot sun. The temperature was reportedly recorded at around 38 degrees. The victims are being treated at the nearby hospital and the government assured all the required help.

Maharashtra Bhushan is the highest civilian award in the state. The idea to start the award was started in 1995. Since 1996 the awards are being awarded to people who made valuable contributions in fields like Social Work, Journalism, Public Administration, and Health Services.
