The ruling TRS may have a staggering Rs 861 crore in its kitty and might even be the richest among the political parties after the BJP, but it is unable to pay the rent of a small office under the GHMC. Not just that. The party tried every trick in the trade to cling on to the office despite not paying rent for years.
On Wednesday, the owner of the building that houses the TRS office of former deputy mayor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Baba Fasiuddin in the Borabanda area of the city has forcibly vacated the TRS office. Armed with a court order and the police support, he came and threw out the material in the TRS office.
Sources say that the party has been operating from the same premises for the last 7 years, but has not paid the rent. Unable to put up with this anymore, the house owner approached the court for redressal. The court directed the police to evict the TRS office from the premises. Accordingly, the owner took possession of his building.
Interestingly, the TRS workers staged a dharna and tried to prevent the eviction. Even former mayor Fasiuddin too tried to interrupt. But, seeing the media persons and the police, he silently left the place. The people wondered why the TRS, which is flush with money, did not pay the rent all these years.
