The much-anticipated GHMC elections once again found itself in the middle of the news after the Telangana High Court heard the petition filed over the civic body elections.
The petitioner who moved the High Court sought directives from the court to see that civic body polls are not commenced till the regular rotation is not followed.
In the petition, former Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Deputy Mayor Shubhash Chadar maintained that the elections are held in the old reservation process and said the reservations should be rotated.
The Counsel who appeared before the court on the behalf of the petitioner told the Court that the GHMC Act Section 52e is against the reservation policy.
Justice A Abhishek Reddy, who dealt with the petition filed by the former Deputy Mayor has transferred the petition to the Chief Justice's bench. The Chief Justice will hear the case tomorrow.
