As a sudden twist in the tale, several media outlets have claimed that Harika who shot to fame with Bigg Boss season 4 Telugu was appointed as TSTDC Chairman only for Mondy and she was removed from the post on Tuesday.

Media reported have also claimed that TSTDC Chairman Uppala Srinivas Gupta took the decision to appoint the YouTube star without consulting the Telangana government and the Tourism Department. As a result, she was removed from the post.

With the controversy getting bigger and bigger,  TSTDC Chairman Uppala Srinivas Gupta gave a clarification on the issue and said all these media reports are rubbish and urged everyone to not believe such news.

Addressing the media at the TSTDC office, the Chairman said, Harika will continue in her post and there is no truth in the news that she was removed from her post.TSTDC Managing Director Manohar Rao was also present at the conference.

Talking about the decision to appoint Harika as TSTDC Ambassador, the Chairman said the Tourism department, which went through a tough time with the Coronavirus pandemic started recovering slowly and tourists are expressing their willingness to travel.

Now we cannot spend crores of money on ambassadors. We have to spend a lot of money to rope in celebrities and film stars. In the current situation, we cannot appoint Mahesh Babu by offering him crores of money. That's why Harika was appointed as the ambassador. It's the collective decisions of the Tourism Minister and the officials of the Tourism Department.

Harika's appointment as TSTDC Chairman received a mixed reaction from netizens. While a section of them questioned are there no other people from Telangana suitable for the post. A group of netizens questioned why the stars can't cut short their remuneration for such causes.
