One seat.. two claimants... same story in this constituency too

Update: 2023-06-12 10:08 GMT
Like in many assembly constituencies of Telangana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi is deeply divided in Nakrekal assembly constituency of Suryapet district too. The party is vertically split between the factions of the current MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah and former MLA Vemula Veeresham. Both the leaders are trying to show that they have the support of the party high command and are trying for the party ticket in the upcoming elections.

Lingaiah and Veeresam have been traditional rivals. In 2009, Lingaiah, then in the Congress Party, won , defeating Veeresam. In the 2014 elections, Veeresam defeated Lingaiah and became an MLA. In 2018, Lingaiah, a Congress candidate, has avenged his defeat and won from Nakrekal. But, soon after winning, he switched over to a welcoming TRS. As a result, the arch rivals are now in the same camp.

But now the big problem is who will get the party ticket in the upcoming assembly elections. Veeresam, who has repeatedly shown his strength and popularity among the people, is claiming the party ticket for being the loyalist that he is. But, Lingaiah strongly feels that the developmental works he had done should guarantee him the party ticket.

The biggest problem for both is that the party leadership has not given any indication as to on whose side it is. Both KCR and KTR have been ambivalent. Both the leaders are unable to get access to the top bosses so that they can plead the case. With the elections fast approaching, both the leaders are pulling all stops to grab the party ticket.
