The union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working out on Jamili elections, the elections should be held for the entire nation at a time rather than having elections in a phased manner.
In several instances, Narendra Modi has also systematically said that it's good to have Jamili elections. He said that conducting elections on multiple occasions is showing an effect on the nation's development.
Now it has been widely reported that the union government has recommended the Jamili elections proposal to the Law Commission. The proposal has been sent to speed up the election process.
Media reports claimed that the union government has reportedly directed the Law Commission to prepare a road map to implement the Jamili elections proposal which paves way for One Nation-One election.
The proposal of the Jamili elections got momentum after the BJP made it to power at the Central level for the second consecutive term. Since 2019, the BJP leaders have been making statements in support of Jamili elections.
On the other hand, the opposition parties are not ready for the Jamili elections and have been opposing the idea every time the BJP leaders get hopeful of having Jamili elections.
Recently, Telangana Congress MP Revanth Reddy said that Jamili elections are not advisable as of now and claimed that going for Jamili elections will reduce the importance of Southern states.
He took a step ahead and claimed that the country would be divided into two if Jamili elections are held in India. The proposal of partition would emerge in the country, the MP said.
