The Indian population is gradually increasing in the United States. More and more people are going there. There are many Indians who are waiting for permanent residence there. Recently, the United States Administration is said to have made the US Citizenship test tougher. There are a few concerns about this.

Amid this, the aspirants of Green cards have something to cheer about as the recommendations to recapture the 230,000 unused green cards for family and employment categories were approved by the advisory commission. Once the decision gets effective, then the green card aspirants would get a bigger benifit.

A recommendation was tabled before the US President's Advisory Commission that, to stop the wastage of Green Cards in the future, unused green cards can be recaptured. The body gave a positive response to this. The development can be seen as a big breakthrough.

Ajay Bhutoria, a member of President Biden's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders announced the happy news on social media. Sharing the news, he shared pics of recommendations that were tabled before the body.

"The President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders is now voting to approve draft recommendations for submission and full commission approved Recapture of unused Green card visas !," he said on Twitter.

Looking at how the new recommendations would be a boon for the green card aspirants. It is known that the annual cap of Green Cards was increased. As per the data, 140,000 employment-based Green Cards are issued every year. Now more than 2 lakh cards can be used.

However, there is a catch here, the unused Green cards cannot be used at once. The cards will be recaptured in a phased manner and a portion of the unused cards will be processed every year. This is in addition to the annual quota.

Though what happened is a piece of happy news to one and all. Experts say that this would benefit Indian Americans more as Indians are the major share of immigrants who go to the United States every year. Green card aspirants are already celebrating the news.
