Vanama Raghava Rao, son of Kothagudem TRS MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao, was arrested while fleeing Telangana. He was arrested late on Friday night while trying to sneak into Andhra Pradesh via Dammapeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Vanama Raghava Rao is the accused in the highly sensational suicide of the family of Paloancha resident Ramakrishna and his family.

In a video clicked before committing suicide along with his wife and two daughters, Ramakrishna said that he was shattered and felt extremely helpless when the MLA's son demanded that he send his wife to him in lieu of the loans he had taken from the latter. This led to huge outcry among the people for action against Vanama Raghava Rao.

In a bid to save his own skin, MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao said the police should treat his son with no mercy. The TRS too has expelled him from the party to contain the damage. However, Vanama Raghava was not arrested on Thursday and Friday.  There were allegations that the government and the police were trying to save him.

Confirming Raghava's arrest, Bhadradri Kothagudem district superintendent of police Sunil Dutt said that he would be produced before the court on Saturday after interrogation. He said Vanama Raghava Rao was arrested while he was crying to cross near Chintalapudi via Dammapeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district late on Friday night.
