Venezuela President Asks Women to Produce 6 Kids

The approaches of the countries towards the burning issues they face often seem to be quiet surprising and shocking. One such nation that observed a shocking approach towards grinding socio-economic crisis in Venezuela as millions of people from there fled the country to escape from the crisis.

 

In spite of this horrific economic crisis in the county, its President came up with a novel situation to battle the crisis which is to have more children.

Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan president, said "Give birth!" at an event that was arranged to promote women's healthcare plans.

"Every woman is to have six children! Every one! For the good of the country!" he added.

Venezuela's Central bank said that inflation has reached around 10,000% last year, with the widespread shortage of basic foodstuffs and medical supplies prevails there. UNICEF reported that the rate of child malnutrition is estimated at 13% which is quite high.

The President's statements have created widespread criticism especially from the women groups with the comments not going well with them, "we women are much more than a womb, we are citizens with rights," they said.

"Hospitals are not functioning, vaccines are scarce, women cannot breastfeed because they are malnourished or buy baby formula because it is unaffordable, and the country faces forced migration due to the humanitarian emergency," opposition leader Manuela Bolivar tweeted.
