When Selection Committee asked Sachin to Retire?

Update: 2016-09-22 14:12 GMT
Outgoing Selection Committee Chairman of BCCI, Sandeep Patil told Dhoni's retirement from Test Cricket came as a shocker to them. He, however, admits discussing about replacement for Dhoni as Test Skipper in the meetings but decided to wait as World Cup 2015 is round the corner.

Sandeep Patil believes Virat Kohli got Test Captaincy at the right time. He also feels Kohli is capable of leading the ODI side as well but the decision is in the hands of New Selection Committee Members.

What came a biggest shock would be the revelation of Sandeep Patil that Sachin Tendulkar was asked to retire by the Selection Committee in 2012. When the Panel Members asked for his future plans on December 12th, 2012, Sachin told retirement wasn't on his mind. However, The Selection Committee decided to drop him from ODI Squad if he doesn't retire and the same was informed to the BCCI. Sensing what was coming, Sachin announced his decision to retire in the next meeting.

Mr.Patil clarifies Dhoni wasn't responsible for the ouster of Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh from the Team. He also informs MSD has never opposed their selection at any time and all the decisions were taken by the selection committee.

Former Wicket-keeper MSK Prasad hailing from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh was appointed as new chairman of BCCI's Selection Committee few days ago.
