Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose met Adolf Hitler, the German Dictator, on May 27th, 1942 in Berlin to seek his support for India's independence hoping it would mount pressure on the British. However, Hitler refused to make any statement in favour of India.
The one story which is widely popular: When Subhas Chandra Bose went to meet Hitler for the first time, He was asked to wait in a hall by the German Chancellor's men as they will go to inform him about his arrival. Netaji began reading a book, then a Hitler lookalike entered the hall but he didn't move from his seat. Few other duplicates of Hitler came and went back within a short span, but Netaji didn't respond. When Hitler himself arrived and silently put one of his hands on Netaji's shoulder, The Indian freedom fighter acknowledged by saying 'Hitler'. Hitler who was really surprised asked Netaji how could he differentiate between original & duplicate. Netaji replied, No one in the World has the courage to put his hand on Subhas Chandra Bose's shoulder except Hitler, not even his men. If this story is true by any chance, We have to be proud to be an INDIAN!
