Though the Government, especially the cinematography minister says that the shootings could resume in July, several officials in the government feel that shootings should be allowed only from August. The corona situation could come completely under control bythen and shootings, which involve considerable human contact, should be allowed only after everything settles down.
Meanwhile, the Government is also planning to reopen the film theatres across the state in a phasewise manner. The film theates have remained closed since mid-March bringing the film industry on to its knees. But, seating arrangements and avoidance of crowding need to be re-worked. Thus a theatre with a capacity of of 300 will have to admit only 150, which is just half the capacity. Also, the sale of beverages and food items too could be regulated. Arrangements will have to be made for thermal screening of every viewer to ensure that there is no possibility of Corona positive person spreading the virus. Meanwhile, there are fears among the exhibitors about smaller films going for the OTT platform for their release. This could drastically alter the business equations in the industry.
