Given the outbreak of the ongoing pandemic, everything around us came to a standstill as the pandemic left a deadly impact on the economy which is cited as the biggest economic loss of our times.

Out of many sectors, the food delivery industry suffered a severe loss as all the restaurants were closed. To date, a limited number of restaurants were permitted to open a dining facility.

A report of Indian restaurant aggregator and food delivery start-up Zomato raised many concerns about the virus spread as the report claimed that 40 percent of restaurants that offer dining facilities might not resume the operations with the virus spread.

According to the survey carried out by Zomato, just 17 percent of restaurants that offer dining facilities are carrying out operations, while around 43 percent of the restaurants are waiting for the conditions to get normal.

The survey claimed, Kolkata has the highest percentage of working dining out restaurants with 29 percent followed by Hyderabad with 21 percentage.

Surprisingly, the food delivery sector managed to recover from the situation, and the sector is currently witnessing 75-80 percent of the pre-pandemic business.

The count of food delivers recorded by Zomato gives us an insight into the recovery of the food delivery sector. Since the nationwide lockout was announced Zomato delivered 70 million food deliveries.
