They were once the most powerful politicians in West Godavari. But, these days, their political careers appear to be in their twilight years. Many of them are in hibernation, some in self-imposed exile and yet others in retirement. Some of them are largely forgotten, while yet others still pack power into their punch.
Take for instance, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao. He joined the BJP and was even its core committee member. But, he is now said to be recuperating from a paralytic attack and is confined to his Hyderabad home. Another senior hand is Maganti Babu. He comes from a political family with great history. But after the 2019 election defeat, he has kept away from the TDP. In the last one year, he lost both his sons and is now trying to come out of the grief.
Former MP Kanumuri bapiraju too is keeping away from active politics. He has reportedly refused to fight elections from Naraspur in 2019. He still is a Congressman and has refused to change his party. Former minister Vatti Vasant Kumar too has been keeping away from active politics for the last ten years. He is currently staying in Vizag.
Former MLA Burugupalli Sesha Rao, Maradani Ranga Rao, Pendyala Venaata Krishna Rao and Kondreddi Viswantham were quite active in the Telugu Desam. But these days, these senior leaders are now quite inactive. Similarly, former MLA Ambika Krishna and former minister Kamineni Srinivas are in BJP, but are not active. As for Kamineni, he is not trusted anymore by the AP BJP leadership. It is highly unlikely that the career of these leaders would be revived anytime soon.
