Several senior members of the prime minister's office are resigning their posts. Amarjit Sinha, who was the principal advisor to PM Narendra Modi has resigned from his job. Sinha's contract still had seven months to expire. Yet, Sinha opted out of the PMO. However, he did not cite any reason for his resignation. A Bihar cadre IAS officer, he was a key member of the PMO. He is the third IAS officer from the PMO to resign in recent times.

Sources said Sinha continued to work without an official rank through his tenure in the PMO. There are rumours that he could be appointed as the lieutenant governor of Puducherry.
