The hopes of Congressmen are blossoming again and this only means there is more trouble for the party leadership. Yes. Strange as it may sound, the Congress has more problems when it is in power. This time around, there is a strong feeling within the Congress that though they may lose the Assembly elections, they still can win the graduate MLC seats. The Congressmen are emboldened by senior leader Jeevan Reddy's stunning victory over the TRS in the MLC elections. They now want to fight the MLC elections.
Most leaders from Mahabubnagar are now vying for a party ticket. Leaders like Vamsichand Reddy, Harshavardhan Reddy, Obeidullah Kotwal, Kitchennagari Lakshma Reddy and Chinna Reddy are eyeing the seat. They have all begun preparations for the MLC elections which would be held sometime next year. They are trying to organize small meetings and garner support.
Currently BJP's N Ramachandra Rao is the MLC from the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates constituency. Sources say that Rao wants to have another go at the elections. There would be around 5.5 lakh voters in the graduates constituency.
