Did the TRS win because of the wrong strategy of Uttam Kumar Reddy? Did his over confidence ruin the Congress chances to win the just concluded Assembly elections in Telangana? Yes, says Telangana Jana Samithi chief Prof Kodandaram.
Reacting for the first ever time after the severe drubbing the Maha Kutami got at the hands of the TRS in the elections, the Professor said that he had repeatedly told Uttam Kumar Reddy that one needs at least 50 days to campaign against such a wily politician as KCR. But, Uttam always felt that 15 days were enough to defeat the TRS. Even TDP leader Ramana said that 15 days were enough. As a result of this complacency, the Congress could not win the election. "We did not have enough time to reach out to the people and convince them to vote for us," he said, adding that KCR had a 100 day head-start over the Congress. He said by the time the Congress got its act together, the polls were already over.
Wiser after the assembly poll debacle, the TJS now wants to fight the assembly polls alone. It does not want to align with the Congress.
