Who says Rahul Gandhi is not the Congress Party's national president. He may have officially resigned and his name does not figure in the hierarchy list. But, he still is calling shots. But, as usual, he is deciding things without much thought. There is a lot of ad hocism in the party over everything.
A small incident at the flag hoisting on the Independence Day is illustrative of the confusion in the party. Rahul Gandhi was asked to hoist the Tricolour on August 15. But, he refused to do so and asked AK Antony to do the honours. Later, finding that AK Antony was alone at the dais, Rahul Gandhi asked party's organizing secretary and his close friend KC Venugopal to share the dais.
Then someone suggested that Kerala is over-represented on the dais and asked for some balance. Then Rahul immediately asked Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to sit on the stage. Interestingly, senior Congress leader and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad too was present there. But, Rahul ignored him and called just Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Later, someone pointed this out. But, by that time, the flag hoisting was over. Such lack of planning and all-pervading confusion tells the sorry story of the Congress Party these days.
