The Congress Party is tottering in Bihar. At least 11 of its MLAs are now getting ready to join the Janata Dal United. This only means that the party would remain with just 8 MLAs in the assembly. According to senior Congress leader Bharat Singh, the party will be completely decimated by these defections.
It seems history is repeating for the Congress. In 2015 elections, the Congress got just 27seats. Later, there were defections to the JDU and he RJD. The then PCC chief Ashok Chowdhury himself led the exodus. He went on to become a minister in the Nitish government. This time too, sources say, PCC chief Madan Mohan Jha too might switch sides. Sources say that these Congress MLAs will join the JDU en masse.
Severe groupism has affected the Congress in Bihar. Already one section is accusing that the 11 MLAs who had won were JDU coverts. They had paid money for securing Congress tickets and are now returning to the JDU after winning on Congress tickets.
The Congress is out of power on its own in Bihar for more than 25 years. The party has little organisational depth in Bihar and its showing has been quite poor.
