Will Jagan be able to repeat the 2019 winning caste combo this tim?

Update: 2022-10-27 04:43 GMT
While YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has come up with the catchy slogan of 175 out of 175 for the 2024 elections, there are lingering doubts within the ruling YSRCP as to whether YS Jagan's strategies will work this time around. Party insiders are raising doubts over the social engineering formula that YS Jagan is adopting.

The social engineering that YS Jagan had played rich dividends in the 2019 elections. His party had won all but 24 seats in the 175-member assembly. Various castes and communities aligned with the YSRCP. But, there are doubts whether the tried and tested formula of 2019 will work this time. Already, there are disconcerting reports that the BCs are moving away from the ruling YSRCP.

Meanwhile, there is unrest even among the Kapu community, which steadfastly remained with the YSRCP in the 2019 elections. If these two vote banks move away from the YSRCP, it could spell trouble, say the analysts. Sources also say that things could change further as Jana Sena, which has considerable support among the Kapu community, is now aligning with the TDP.

Political analysts say that even BSP supremo Mayawati chose the same strategy of social engineering in the past. It paid rich dividends for her and he had become the chief minister of the largest state in the country. But the very same Mayawati could not sustain the same winning combination in the next election and lost the CM's post. Will the same thing happen to YS Jagan too? Let's wait and see if Jagan can buck the trend or succumb to the trap laid out.
