The TDP's reconstituted state committee has turned out to be a jumbo-sized unit with everyone who is someone finding a place in it. But, this has inadvertently exposed the faultlines and fissures within the party. Several leaders, who are unhappy at being omitted from the Central Committee and the politburo have been accommodated in the committee.
With over 2019 people included in the committee, the committee has 18 vice presidents, 16 general secretaries, 18 official spokes persons, 58 executive secretaries, 108 state secretaries. This is way too bigger than the BJP's national committee. The BJP has its government in over 20 states and the Centre, while the TDP has no government in its home state of Andhra Pradesh.
To ensure that the MLAs and prominent leaders slip out of his fold, Chandrababu naidu has included every MLA, former MLA, former minister in the committee. Even mandal level leaders have been included in the committee. To placate the angry women leaders like former Vijayawada mayor Panchumarthi Anuradha, former MLA Gouthu Sireesha, former minister Peethala Sujatha and others, Chandrababu Naidu made them members of the state committee. Whether this arrangement would be able to hold the leaders and stop them from leaving the state remains to be seen.
